Description
This electric mantel clock, manufactured by the United Clock Corp. of Brooklyn, New York, is designed in the style of a miniature tall-case or grandfather clock. The case is constructed of wood with a mahogany-toned finish, featuring a broken-pediment crest topped with a central gold-tone metal finial. The front of the case is accented by two fluted gold-tone columns finished with Corinthian-style capitals. The metal dial features an ornate scrollwork center and a white chapter ring with black Arabic numerals and fleur-de-lis hour markers. The arched upper portion of the dial plate includes decorative numeric scales and astronomical motifs, including a moon, stars, and clouds. A central banner on the dial is marked UNITED. The bottom of the dial is inscribed MADE IN U.S.A. and UNITED CLOCK CORP., BROOKLYN, N.Y. A glazed lower aperture reveals a polished metal pendulum. The back panel includes a time-set knob and an original paper label stating USE ON A. C. CURRENT ONLY 60 CYCLE – 115 VOLT – 2W MANUFACTURED BY UNITED CLOCK CORP. BROOKLYN, NEW YORK. The panel is also printed with MODEL No. 444 and includes UL and CSA certification logos.
