Description

This lot features two late 19th-century framed prints. The primary piece is a color lithograph titled Honor the Lord With Thy Substance, published by the firm Currier and Ives. The image depicts a bountiful still life of fruit including grapes, a pineapple, peaches, and pears arranged in a silver bowl, with a banner bearing the title text. Beneath the main image is a scriptural passage from Proverbs reading And With The First Fruits of All Thine Increase. Printed text along the bottom margin identifies the publisher as Published by Currier and Ives at 125 Nassau St. New York, with a copyright date of 1872. The second item is a smaller still life print, likely a chromolithograph, depicting a variety of roses in a classical urn. Both prints are set in rustic criss-cross or Adirondack-style hand-carved wooden frames. These frames feature overlapping corner joints and applied foliate medallions at the intersections. Both items are glazed and backed with paper or cardboard, with hanging wires attached to the reverse.
