The Historic 1840 Tucker House Bed and Breakfast Auction: A Distinguished Offering of Primitives & Antiques
Lot 58:
Description
An assortment of antique hand-forged kitchen and hearth tools, bearing stylistic similarities to 18th and 19th-century Dutch implements. The collection includes a large copper skimmer with a hand-punched perforated bowl and a wrought iron handle featuring a decorative twist and a flattened terminal. A smaller skimmer is made of tinned iron with a flat head and numerous small perforations. Two iron forks are included: one with a long round-stock handle ending in a forged hook, and another shorter version with a flat handle. The lot also contains a cast brass or bronze pastry jagger with a fluted cutting wheel and a jagged crimping edge, as well as a small, finely woven wire basket strainer with a twisted handle and an integrated rim hook. No maker marks or signatures are visible on any of the pieces. Construction methods indicate early blacksmith work.
