Description
This antique saucepan is constructed from heavy-gauge copper and features a cylindrical body with a flat base. The piece exhibits traditional pre-industrial metalworking techniques, including visible dovetailed or cramped seams where the side is joined and where the base meets the wall. The surface shows evidence of hand-hammering throughout. A long, flat, hand-forged iron handle is secured to the body with two large, rounded copper rivets. The handle terminates in a circular hanging hole. There are no visible maker marks, stamps, or hallmarks on the body, base, or handle. The construction and style are consistent with 19th-century utilitarian kitchenware produced in Europe or the United States.
