Description
This collection of flatware features a group of mother-of-pearl handled pieces and several sterling silver spoons. Included are six dessert or fruit knives and a large cake or pie server, all featuring mother-of-pearl handles with decorative sterling silver ferrules. The knife blades are stamped Landers, Frary and Clark, Aetna Works. The silver bands on these items are marked Sterling. Among the spoons is a sterling silver teaspoon by the Gorham Manufacturing Company, identified by its hallmark of a lion, an anchor, and a capital G, and marked Pat. 1911. Four decorative and souvenir spoons are present: a Mount Vernon commemorative spoon with a bowl embossed with Washingtons Home Mt. Vernon, Va.; a heart-shaped spoon with a twisted stem and floral handle engraved Lottie; a commemorative spoon featuring a portrait bust on the handle and a building in the bowl; and a demitasse spoon with a twisted stem and an engraved bowl. Additionally, the lot includes a plain sterling silver teaspoon and a small two-tine fork crafted from a natural cream-colored material. The silver spoons are consistently marked Sterling on the reverse.
