The Historic 1840 Tucker House Bed and Breakfast Auction: A Distinguished Offering of Primitives & Antiques
Lot 489:
Description
This hand-wrought iron two-light candelabra is designed in the Mid-Century Modern style with Brutalist influences. The piece features a central vertical rod with a subtle hammered texture, terminated with a ball finial. A horizontal cross-arm carries two cylindrical candle cups with integrated circular drip pans. The arm is mounted to the central shaft via a sliding square collar, permitting vertical height adjustment along the length of the rod. The structure is supported by a heavy, domed circular base showing evidence of hand-hammering. The iron exhibits a dark, patinated finish with evidence of hand-forging throughout. Faint, illegible indentations are present on the upper surface of the base near the edge, though no specific maker marks or signatures are clearly distinguishable.
