This hand-colored lithograph, titled Little Sister, is a Victorian-era sentimental portrait of a young child. The subject is depicted with curly brown hair and blue eyes, wearing a white lace-trimmed dress accented with a green hand-colored bow and a gold-tone chain necklace with a cross pendant. The print features a printed inscription at the bottom margin that reads: LITTLE SISTER. / PUBLISHED BY CURRIER & IVES 125 NASSAU ST. NEW YORK. The work is presented within an oval mat and housed in a rectangular wood-grain finished frame with a gilded inner lip. The publisher’s address of 125 Nassau Street indicates a publication date between approximately 1877 and 1894.
