Description
This antique tea kettle is constructed from wrought and hammered copper with cast brass components. The globular body features a prominent horizontal lap-seam around the midsection and is fitted with a gooseneck spout. A domed copper lid is topped by a cast brass pedestal finial. The fixed handle is composed of two arched brass straps supporting a central tubular brass grip, secured to the kettle shoulder with copper rivets. Two small incised characters are present on the side of the body near the base of the spout but are not clearly legible. The interior shows remnants of a tin lining and mineral deposits.
