The Historic 1840 Tucker House Bed and Breakfast Auction: A Distinguished Offering of Primitives & Antiques
Lot 150:
Description
An antique two-piece culinary mold set featuring a fluted oval body and a separate flat-top lid. The body is fashioned from stamped metal with a gray mottled enamel finish, a style of kitchenware known as graniteware or agateware. The exterior is decorated with deep fluting to resemble a melon, a common motif for Victorian-era puddings and gelatins. The interior of the bowl is also finished in the same gray enamel. The lid is constructed from un-enameled metal, likely tinned steel, and is fitted with a central wire bail handle secured by a soldered strap. No manufacturer marks, stamps, or signatures are present on the items.
