Lot 437:
Sold for: $15
Description
A collection of vintage “church key” style can and bottle openers manufactured in the United States. Each tool is constructed from pressed steel, featuring a pointed triangular punch for piercing cans at one end and a rounded cap lifter with an integrated circular hang hole at the opposite end. The top surface of each opener is stamped with several rows of text. The top line reads VAUGHAN U.S.A. in a block font. The center features Falls City BEER, with “Falls City” rendered in a stylized script and “BEER” in a block font. The bottom line consists of the text IT’S PASTEURIZED IT’S BITTER-FREE. Based on these readable marks, the items are advertising tools produced by the Vaughan company for the Falls City Brewing Company of Louisville, Kentucky. The individual openers measure approximately 4 inches in length.
