Description
A collection of vintage American-made “church key” style combined bottle and can openers. Each tool is constructed from stamped steel and features a dual-function design with a pointed triangular tip for puncturing cans and a curved hook at the opposite end for prying bottle caps. The center of each tool is embossed with several lines of text. The primary advertising text reads Falls City BEER in a stylized script and block font, followed by the slogan IT’S PASTEURIZED IT’S BITTER-FREE. The manufacturing marks stamped at the top of the tools include VAUGHAN U.S.A. One specific opener in the group features an expanded manufacturer’s mark reading CHI. APR-VAUGHAN U.S.A. 63. These tools were produced by the Vaughan Novelty Mfg. Co. of Chicago, a prolific manufacturer of barware and kitchen gadgets throughout the mid-20th century. Across the length of the tool, each opener measures approximately 3 7/8 inches.
