A Pair of Japanese Ceramic Salt and Pepper Shakers and a Carnival Glass Toothpick Holder
Description
This lot consists of a pair of Japanese ceramic salt and pepper shakers and a pressed carnival glass toothpick holder. The salt and pepper shakers feature bulbous, lobed bodies finished in a pale yellow glaze. The screw-top lids are decorated with raised enamel floral motifs in pink, blue, and orange against a black ground, characteristic of Moriage-style decoration. The underside of each ceramic base is stamped in red with the words MADE IN JAPAN. The carnival glass toothpick holder is composed of iridescent amethyst glass with a multi-colored metallic finish showing blue, gold, and green tones. It features a Whirling Star or Pinwheel pattern, which includes hobstar motifs within arched panels and diamond-point texturing, topped with a scalloped beaded rim.Toothpick holder height: 2 3/8 inchesToothpick holder diameter at rim: 2 1/4 inches.
