The Estate of Bessie Mae Carriss
Lot 289:
Description
A pair of vintage miniature bench anvils constructed from solid cast iron with a black finish. The larger of the two features a traditional single-horn design with a flat face and a rounded bick. The smaller anvil is a double-stepped horn variety, common in specialized trades such as cutlery or jewelry repair. Both tools are cast with flared bases for stability during small-scale metalworking or hobbyist use. The undersides of the bases show flat-ground surfaces where the casting texture has been smoothed, revealing the raw gray metal beneath the black coating. No maker marks, brand names, or country-of-origin stamps are present on either piece.Length of larger anvil: 4 1/2 inchesHeight of larger anvil: 2 1/4 inchesLength of smaller anvil: 3 3/4 inchesHeight of smaller anvil: 1 3/4 inches.
