Encrusted Jewelry Collage Memory Chest with Figural Elements
Description
A rectangular wooden memory chest or jewelry box featuring a hinged lid and an orange velvet-lined interior with two compartments and an inset mirror. The exterior surfaces are densely decorated in a folk art collage style with an assemblage of vintage costume jewelry and found objects. The decorative elements include faceted glass and acrylic rhinestones, faux pearls, enameled pins, metal brooches, a thimble, an American flag pin, and molded plastic beads. Three-dimensional ceramic figurines, including a white cherub and a pink pig, are incorporated into the lid decoration. One pin is an enameled medallion with a red, white, and blue logo and printed text reading AMERICAN REVOLUTION BICENTENNIAL 1776-1976. The perimeter of the lid is lined with a strand of iridescent white faceted beads, and the base is finished with a strand of light blue round beads.
