Gulf No-nox Porcelain Enamel Gas Pump Plate

Description
A vintage mid-20th-century porcelain enamel advertising pump plate for the Gulf Oil Corporation. The heavy-gauge steel sign is trapezoidal in form with a white porcelain ground and a thin dark blue border. The center features a printed circular logo consisting of an orange and white disc containing the brand name Gulf in blue sans-serif lettering. Below the disc, the text No-nox is printed in large, bold blue sans-serif characters. A small registered trademark symbol, a printed blue R in a circle, is visible to the lower right of the Gulf logo and at the bottom right corner of the No-nox text. The edges of the sign are slightly flanged. The reverse side is finished in white porcelain with a dark blue border along the top and bottom edges.
