Description
This set comprises two pieces of glass featuring Mary Gregory style white enamel figurative decoration, dating to the late 19th or early 20th century. The first item is a hand-blown transparent amber glass decanter of cylindrical form with rounded shoulders and a short neck. It features a matching ground-glass stopper with an orb finial. The decoration depicts a boy in 19th-century attire walking through a landscape with a stylized tree and grasses, while the reverse has a small five-petaled floral motif. Thin gold-gilt bands accent the neck of the bottle and the stopper. The second item is a frosted blue satin glass vase with a bulbous base and a long, slender neck terminating in a flared, ruffled piecrust rim. The hand-painted enamel decoration depicts a boy flying a kite in a landscape with reeds. The base is finished with a white enameled ring at the foot.
