Description
A group of vintage turned hardwood replacement handles produced by the Belknap Hardware and Manufacturing Co. of Louisville, Kentucky. These items are branded under the company’s Blue Grass and Blue Ribbon lines, specifically designed for long garden or agricultural tools such as hoes, rakes, or forks. The handles are constructed from straight-grained hardwood and feature various steel ferrule and mounting configurations. One handle includes a blue-painted mounting plate with three pre-drilled holes, while another features a chrome-plated ferrule. A notable feature on one handle is the Flex-Beam reinforcement, consisting of a steel strip inset into the wood for increased durability. One handle is stamped Belknap Blue Grass Louisville, Ky. and features a metal insert stamped Flex-Beam Strength over With Flexibility. This handle also retains a partial red, blue, and gold foil label reading Blue Grass, Belknap Inc, and Louisville Ky 40201. A second handle has a white paper label with the Blue Grass logo and codes V19-BG335 and 493-080. A third handle is stamped in blue with the Blue Grass logo, Right Repair Handle, and No. BG102A. The fourth handle is stamped in blue Blue Ribbon WO6BR97. Length of longest handle: 59.5 inches.
