Description
This pair of vintage long-handled garden tools was produced for the Belknap Hardware and Manufacturing Company of Louisville, Kentucky, under their Mohawk brand name. The set consists of a four-tine cultivator and a triangular heart-shaped hoe, also known as a warren hoe. Each tool is constructed with a turned wood handle and a steel head featuring remnants of original orange paint. Both items retain partial original manufacturer paper labels on the wood handles. One label is inscribed BELKNAP, Mohawk in stylized cursive, LOUISVILLE, KY., MADE IN U.S.A., W193M, and 11-5. The second handle label reads BELKNAP, Mohawk, LOUISVILLE, KY., and MADE IN U.S.A. A small white adhesive tag on the metal ferrule of the cultivator contains the numbers 20538, 958-690, 85 OZ, and 9.25. Overall Length: 53.5 to 54 inches Cultivator Head Width: 5 inches.
