Description
A collection of early 20th-century children’s games and activity sets constructed from paper-covered cardboard and cardstock with chromolithographed and printed illustrations. The group includes two titles by Milton Bradley Co.: The Three Bears board game (item 4478, copyright 1909) and an Old Maid card game (item 4263). The Three Bears set retains its original game board, card-base manual spinner, and two wooden composition tokens. The Old Maid set includes its original box and cards. Also included is an Art-Toy Transfer Pictures set by The F.T.P. Co., dated by patent to 1913 and referencing a 1915 Panama-Pacific Exposition award. This set contains transfer papers, an instruction booklet, and a small box for The Hummer toy crayons. The Game of Roodles by the Flinch Card Co. (copyright 1911) includes its original two-part box, a card deck, and directions. A fifth generic box contains assorted antique paper ephemera and advertising scraps, including Arm and Hammer bird cards and a McLaughlins Coffee die-cut standee.
