Description
A pair of mirror-image seated spaniel figurines designed by Carlton Varney. These ceramic pieces are modeled in the traditional Staffordshire mantel dog style. Each dog features molded fur texture and a cream-colored glazed finish with an intentional fine crackle or crazed effect throughout. Facial features are hand-painted, including black muzzles, brown eyes, and arched eyebrows. The dogs are adorned with gold luster collars featuring a hanging padlock and a chain draped across the back. The underside of one figurine is signed Carlton Varney in black ink. Height: 8 inches Base Width (Profile): 5 3/8 inches Base Width (Front): 3 3/4 inches.
