Description
A set of 12 sterling silver forks manufactured by the Gorham Manufacturing Company in the Buttercup pattern. This pattern, originally introduced in 1885, features ornate multi-motif floral and foliate repoussÈ decoration along the scalloped handles. Each fork is engraved with a single-letter script monogram R on the handle. The reverse of the handles bears the Gorham hallmarks consisting of a lion passant, a vertical anchor, and a Gothic-style letter G, followed by the word STERLING in block capitals. The set is accompanied by a vintage silver cloth storage roll featuring a woven label for Skuller’s jewelry store, 115 W. Main St., Lexington, Kentucky.
