Description
A pair of semi-vitreous earthenware nesting bowls produced by the Hall China Company in the Autumn Leaf pattern. The vessels feature transfer-printed floral motifs in shades of orange, yellow, and brown on a cream-colored ground, accented with a gold-tone rim and a fluted exterior. The base of the larger bowl is marked with the gold-tone stamp: HALL’S SUPERIOR, TESTED AND APPROVED BY Mary Dunbar JEWEL HOMEMAKERS INSTITUTE, QUALITY KITCHENWARE. This mark indicates the pieces were manufactured as promotional premiums for the Jewel Tea Company. Large bowl: 9 1/8 inches diameter, 4 1/8 inches height Small bowl: 7 3/8 inches diameter.
