Description
This is a photomechanical lithographic print on paper after an original watercolor by American Impressionist artist Paul Sawyier (1865-1917). The work, titled Dr. Suter’s House, depicts a landscape at Peaks Mill, Kentucky, featuring a white house with green shutters and a stone foundation overlooking the calm waters of Elkhorn Creek. The scene is rendered in soft, impressionistic tones characteristic of Sawyier’s style. The print is signed in the plate at the lower right PAUL SAWYIER and is hand-numbered in pencil 1139/1500. The artwork is presented in a decorative gilt-finished wood frame with a beaded inner border and a gold-toned mat. The reverse is sealed with paper and bears an authentication label from Paul Sawyier Galleries, Inc., which includes a biography of the artist and historical details about the Suter house.
