Description
This is a two-piece miniature covered glass dish, featuring a pressed glass hen figural lid resting on an oval base. The translucent glass is a vibrant teal blue color. The lid is molded in the shape of a nesting hen with stylized feather detailing and a textured comb. The oval base features an embossed basket-weave pattern on the exterior. This size and form were typically produced as individual salt cellars or decorative trinket boxes. While this example shares design characteristics with miniature hens produced by mid-20th century American glassmakers such as Degenhart, Boyd, or L.E.
