Description
An assortment of antique utilitarian hand tools including two pairs of tongs, a spring balance scale, and a small hand shovel. The two pairs of tongs are of cross-hinged forged iron construction with curved, sharp-pointed tips, traditionally used for handling ice or timber. One pair retains a black-painted finish with a handle attached by links, while the other is unpainted iron with a chain-link handle. The spring balance scale features a rectangular brass face plate and a large iron hanging hook. The brass plate is incised at the top with a circular mark containing the words IMPROVED SPRING BALANCE and HARYS, with the word WARRANTED appearing below the circle. The face of the scale is graduated in increments of 8 pounds, with a total weighing capacity of 50 pounds.
