Description
A General Electric model G53 tabletop tube radio, dating to approximately 1938. The unit features a wood cabinet with walnut veneers designed in the Art Deco Streamline style, characterized by rounded corners and four vertical wooden grille slats over the speaker cloth. The interface consists of a horizontal slide-rule dial displaying two bands: Short-Wave (6.0 to 18 MC) and Broadcast (55 to 160 KC). A brown plastic bezel surrounds the dial and six mechanical push-button presets, two of which are labeled WSM and WGRC. Below the dial are four brown teardrop-shaped control knobs for volume, tone, and tuning functions. The rear of the unit reveals a metal chassis labeled F. T. 270 CHASSIS with a stamped serial number 20478. The chassis contains several vacuum tubes and an integrated electro-dynamic speaker.Height: 10 inchesWidth: 17.5 inchesDepth: 9 inches.
