Description
This is a small-scale Columbus Washboard Co. Ideal model washboard that has been finished for decorative use. The item features a wooden frame and a corrugated metal scrubbing surface. The front header board is decorated with a vintage-style Pears Soap advertising decal depicting a Victorian-era woman and the text PEARS SOAP, HEALTHFUL SKIN, and SOFT, WHITE BEAUTIFUL. Four metal cup hooks are installed along the bottom crossmember, allowing the piece to function as a key rack or small item organizer. The reverse side of the wooden header board features incised stamped text that reads IDEAL FOR SILKS, HOSIERY… and JUST THE RIGHT SIZE TO FIT A BUCKET, PAIL OR LAVATORY.
