Description
A collection of four antique American-style cast iron sad irons, dating from the late 19th to early 20th century. These domestic tools feature heavy cast iron bodies with a pointed toe and flat heel, designed to be heated on a stovetop for pressing laundry. The group includes various handle configurations: two with integral cast iron handles, one with a simple bent strap metal handle, and one featuring a black-painted grip, likely wood, supported by metal uprights. Identification markings are visible on two examples. One iron is embossed on the top surface with the numeral 5 near the point and the letters B and W near the heel. A second iron is embossed with the numeral 5 on the rear vertical face of the heel.
