Description
This antique wooden wagon wheel is a utilitarian transport component featuring a fourteen spoke design. The spokes radiate from a heavy central wooden hub reinforced with two outer iron bands. The outer rim is constructed of segmented wooden felloes and is encased in a thick iron tire secured with metal fasteners. The assembly includes a section of the original square cut wooden axle which is fitted with an iron skein. This metal sleeve is positioned on the axle and remains seated within the hub bore. The construction utilizes hardwood for the primary structure with iron hardware for reinforcement. No manufacturer markings or patent dates are visible on the wood or metal surfaces.Diameter: 44.5 inches.
