Description
This lot comprises two pieces of contemporary 24% lead crystal. The first is a large cylindrical vase with a tapered form and a scalloped rim. The decorative program consists of deep vertical wedge cuts on the upper body, transitioning into a field of crisscross diamond cuts with starburst motifs toward the base. This vase retains an original oval foil label near the rim which reads: 24% LEAD CRYSTAL, Royal Gallery, MADE IN SLOVAKIA, copyright 1999 FEDERATED DEPARTMENT STORES. The second item is a trumpet-style vase featuring a flared, notched rim. Its cutting pattern includes elongated vertical mitre cuts flared in a palm frond motif situated above a lower section of diamond-hatched cutting. Both pieces exhibit high clarity and sharp faceting characteristic of late 20th-century European lead crystal production.
