The case is constructed from black enameled cast iron in a classical temple form, featuring a pediment top adorned with a decorative brass medallion and four fluted brass columns with Corinthian style capitals. The clock sits upon a heavy, stepped plinth base. The dial consists of a cream colored chapter ring with black Roman numerals and an outer minute track, surrounding an ornate embossed brass center with a sunburst design. The brass bezel features a repeating scrollwork pattern. Two winding apertures and a regulation arbor are present on the dial face. The movement is an eight day, spring driven time and strike mechanism, striking on a coiled wire gong. The rear brass movement plate is stamped Ansonia Clock Co New York U.S.A. and Patented June 18 1882. A double ended brass winding key is included.
