Lot 534:
Description
This lot consists of two distinct side chairs of differing scales and periods. The first chair is an Empire or Regency style side chair crafted from a dark-stained hardwood, likely mahogany. It features a curved tablet top rail above a pierced horizontal splat with an interlaced oval and diamond motif. The chair is supported by saber-style rear legs and tapered, slightly flared front legs. It includes a drop-in seat upholstered in a modern pink and peach chevron patterned woven fabric. The second item is a child-sized primitive ladder-back chair. It is constructed from turned wood with a hand-woven rush seat. The back is composed of two scalloped horizontal slats between turned stiles. The legs and stretchers feature decorative ring turnings. This chair has a multi-layer distressed paint finish, showcasing a reddish-brown crackle effect over a cream-colored base.
