Lot 292:
Description
A modern decorative swinging mantel clock in the mystery style, designed as a tribute to 19th-century French clockmaking. The case is constructed of cast metal, possibly spelter or white metal, finished with a dark bronze-toned patina and accented with green verdigris highlights. The figural base depicts a woman in a classical gown leaning against a rocky formation with two perched birds. She holds aloft a clock assembly and a three-rod pendulum structure. The circular dial features a gold-tone face with a central scroll pattern and white cartouches containing black Arabic numerals. The clock has ornate black hands and a red center sweep second hand. The rear of the clock houses a modern battery-operated quartz movement with a separate pendulum driver. Markings on the movement include CE, UNADJUSTED, and PAT PEND. The clock is mounted on a rococo-style base with decorative scrollwork feet. Light, Some damage to area where clock mounts to hand, as pictured.
