Description
A trio of antique American stoneware utilitarian jugs dating from the late 19th to early 20th century. The collection comprises two cylindrical jugs and one bulbous beehive-style jug. The cylindrical examples feature two-tone glazing with dark brown Albany slip shoulders over cream-colored Bristol glaze bodies. The beehive jug is finished in a uniform dark brown to black glossy glaze. These vessels are representative of traditional stoneware used for storing spirits such as whiskey or moonshine. No maker marks, capacity stamps, or signatures are visible on the exterior of any piece. Chipped, Missing Handle, Some Damage.)
