Lot 281:
Description
This lot features two vintage official Boy Scouts of America (BSA) canteens, likely dating from the mid-20th century. Each item consists of a round aluminum flask housed within a khaki-colored cotton canvas cover. The covers feature integrated adjustable woven cotton webbing shoulder straps and metal snap-button closures. The front of each canvas cover is stamped with an official circular ink seal. The outer ring of the seal reads BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA and the inner ring reads NATIONAL COUNCIL, surrounding a central fleur-de-lis insignia with a eagle and stars. One canteen is fitted with a knurled aluminum screw cap, while the other features a tan plastic or Bakelite screw cap; both caps are secured to the flasks via metal link chains. The snap buttons on the left canteen are embossed with the BSA fleur-de-lis symbol. The left canteen cover has the name GARY hand-written in ink above the central seal.
