Lot 254:
Description
A collection of mid-20th-century American decorative glassware featuring pieces in ruby red and black amethyst glass. The group includes a pedestal center bowl with a translucent ruby red glass body mounted on a sterling silver base manufactured by the Gorham Manufacturing Company. The pedestal base features ornate floral and foliate repoussé decorative patterns and is marked GORHAM STERLING with the company hallmarks of a lion passant, an anchor, and the letter G. The base is also stamped with the number 1436 and the text WEIGHTED REINFORCED WITH OTHER METAL. Also included is a tall, tapered vase in deep burgundy black amethyst glass, which appears opaque black under normal lighting but reveals violet tones when held to a strong light source; it features a decorative scalloped rim. Completing the collection are two small ivy ball vases in translucent ruby red glass, identified as the Royal Ruby pattern by Anchor Hocking, featuring rounded bodies and short flared rims.
