Description
This is an ornate oval wall mirror manufactured by the Syracuse Ornamental Company (Syroco) in Syracuse, New York. The frame is constructed from SyrocoWood, a proprietary molded wood-pulp and resin composite designed to simulate carved wood. The piece is designed in a Neoclassical or Rococo revival style, featuring a central crest with a fluted urn containing a floral arrangement, flanked by scrolling acanthus leaves. The base of the frame features a central shell motif terminal, and the inner perimeter is accented with a molded rope-twist border. The frame is finished in a light gold-tone or champagne-colored paint with antiqued detailing. On the reverse, the frame includes a molded mark reading © SYROCO INC MADE IN U.S.A. and retains its original oval foil label in black and gold. This label identifies the manufacturer as © SYRACUSE ORNAMENTAL CO INC and features the Syroco Wood trade name.
