Description
Attributed to Mobo Toys (D. Sebel and Company Ltd., England), this Pony Express horse sulky is a mid-century manually propelled ride-on toy. The piece features a hollow-cast metal horse in a dynamic pose, finished in white with red, black, and blue harness and saddle detailing. The horse is mounted to a tubular metal frame that connects to a rear wooden cart. The cart consists of a flat wooden platform with three raised sides featuring hand-painted black and red scroll motifs over a white ground. Directional control is facilitated by a metal steering handle located behind the horse’s head, which operates the front wheel assembly under the horse. The toy is supported by three metal wheels fitted with solid black rubber tires. No manufacturer labels, stamps, or maker marks are visible on the object.
