Lot 184:
Description
A group of three contemporary hand-thrown stoneware pottery items. This lot includes two mugs and one miniature jug. The two mugs are decorated with a variegated brown and tan speckled glaze accented with cobalt blue splotches. Each mug has a flared rim, an incised line at the mid-section, and an applied loop handle. One mug features a hand-painted black mark on the unglazed base consisting of two stylized script characters, possibly SB or JB, while the other mug remains unmarked with visible throwing rings on the base. The miniature jug has a cylindrical body with a conical shoulder and a small straight neck. It features a two-tone finish with a matte dark gray shoulder and neck over a glossy reddish-brown body. Hand-written script is visible on the side of the jug under the glaze, which reads COUNTRY on the first line and begins with the letter F on the second line. The base of the jug is fully glazed in a dark brown.
