Description
This collection consists of eight pieces of clear American glass tableware, featuring a variety of pressed and cut patterns dating from the late 19th to the mid-20th century. The assembly includes items in the style of Early American Pattern Glass (EAPG) and the American Brilliant Period (ABP). A prominent two-piece set includes a circular underplate and a high-domed cheese or butter cover, both decorated in a diamond-point (hobnail) pattern and topped with a faceted, multi-sided knob finial. A matching pair of footed vessels includes an open sugar bowl and a creamer, each featuring ornate relief-molded scroll and floral patterns against stippled backgrounds, with a band of diamond-shaped facets encircling the lower body. The creamer is fitted with an applied-style handle. A large, heavy oval serving bowl exhibits deep, sharp patterns including radiant fans, central hobstars, and diamond-hatched geometric fields, finished with a sawtooth scalloped edge. A smaller rectangular dish serves as a companion piece with similar star, fan, and miter cut patterns. The grouping also includes a small cylindrical toothpick holder or vase with a diamond-quilted body and a flared, gold-gilt scalloped rim, and two individual round salt cellars or butter pats with diamond-patterned sides and bases. No maker’s marks, signatures, or acid stamps are visible on any of the pieces. Based on the patterns and construction, these items are in the style of American manufacturers such as U.S. Glass Co. and Fostoria.
