Description

This pair of heavy lead crystal vessels is designed in the style of the American Brilliant Period (circa 1876-1917). The first vessel features a squat, rounded body with a decorative scheme of triangular panels containing fine hobnail and cross-hatched cutting, separated by fanned sunburst motifs. Its neck is annulated with vertical fluted cuts and triple horizontal ring bands. The second vessel is of a taller, bulbous form with a tapering neck featuring notched vertical flutes. Its body is elaborately cut with large diamond panels containing central star motifs, set above a lower section of vertical bladed flutes. Both pieces exhibit the high clarity, sharp-edged geometric hand-cutting, and prismatic light refraction characteristic of high-lead-content American crystal from the late 19th to early 20th century. Neither piece bears visible maker’s marks, signatures, or acid-etched stamps.
