The Historic 1840 Tucker House Bed and Breakfast Auction: A Distinguished Offering of Primitives & Antiques
Lot 522:
Description
This group comprises two pieces of pink transfer-printed earthenware or ironstone. The first piece is a round plate featuring a central romanticized landscape scene with palm trees, an exotic pavilion, and seated figures, a pattern widely attributed to Mason’s as Vista. The central scene is enclosed within a complex border featuring four floral cartouches. The second item is an octagonal lidded jar, likely a sugar or honey bowl, decorated with a dense all-over floral lace or shrub pattern. The jar is designed with two small scroll handles and a conforming lid with a faceted, pointed finial. Neither piece displays any visible maker’s marks or backstamps on the reverse or interior.
