This lot comprises a collection of large-format hardcover volumes focused on the history and cataloging of Currier & Ives lithographs. The group includes two copies of Currier & Ives: Printmakers to the American People by Harry T. Peters, published by Doubleday, Doran & Co., 1942 (Quarto). One copy is bound in decorative gray publisher’s cloth and the other includes a tan dust jacket. Also included is A Currier & Ives Treasury edited by Colin Simkin, published by Crown Publishers, 1952 (Oblong Folio), which contains 80 full-page color plates and a guide to the collection and care of prints. The lot further contains Currier & Ives Chronicles of America edited by John Lowell Pratt, published by Promontory Press, circa 1968 (Quarto, ISBN 0-88394-031-0), featuring color plates reproduced from original hand-colored stone prints. Rounding out the collection is Currier & Ives: Portraits of a Nation by Alexandra Bonfante-Warren, published by Friedman/Fairfax Publishers, 1998 (Quarto, ISBN 1-56799-589-6).
