The Historic 1840 Tucker House Bed and Breakfast Auction: A Distinguished Offering of Primitives & Antiques
Lot 37:
Sold for: $30
Description
This is a 20th-century lithographic reproduction of an 1876 bird’s-eye view of Louisville, Kentucky, originally published by Shober and Carqueville Lithographing Company. The panoramic image depicts the city from an elevated perspective across the Ohio River, showing the extensive street grid, numerous steamboats such as the Morning Star, and the Fourteenth Street Bridge with a passing U.S. Mail train. Below the image, a detailed legend identifies thirty-two churches and twenty-two public buildings and depots. Fine print in the lower right corner identifies this as a 1973 reproduction in a limited edition of 500 copies, though the specific edition number remains blank. The print has been finished with a high-gloss laminate and is mounted to a rigid white board.
