Description
A mid-19th-century monochromatic lithograph titled Death of Genl. Andrew Jackson. The scene depicts the former president on his deathbed surrounded by four grieving figures within a draped interior setting. Multiple publisher marks are visible along the bottom edge, including Kelloggs & Thayer, 144 Fulton St. N.Y. on the left, E.B. & E.C. Kellogg, 136 Main St. Hartford, Conn. in the center, and D. Needham, 223 Main St. Buffalo, N.Y. on the right. The lower margin contains biographical text stating President of the United States from 1829 to 1837, Born, 15th March 1767, and Died, 8th June 1845. The print is housed in a period dark-finished mitered wood frame. The reverse is finished with a rough-hewn wooden backing board secured by small brads and fitted with a simple hanging wire.
