Description
This late Victorian silver-plated castor set was produced by the Forbes Silver Company of Meriden, Connecticut. The item consists of a footed pedestal stand with a gallery rim and base decorated with high-relief repoussÈ work depicting clusters of fruit and foliage. A central upright handle features an openwork fan and lattice motif grip. The stand holds an assortment of glass bottles decorated with an etched foliate and grapevine pattern. The collection includes cruets with faceted glass stoppers, shakers with perforated silver-plated caps, and a mustard pot with a hinged silver-plated lid and small glass spoon. The stand is marked on the base plate with a circular stamp reading FORBES in an upper arch, TRIPLE PLATE in a central oval, and SILVER CO in a lower arch.
