The Historic 1840 Tucker House Bed and Breakfast Auction: A Distinguished Offering of Primitives & Antiques
Lot 31:
Description
This is an antique soda siphon produced for the John G. Epping bottling company of Louisville, Kentucky. The bottle is constructed from heavy, thick-walled emerald green glass featuring a decagonal, ten-sided faceted body likely produced through a mold-blown technique. The front of the glass is acid-etched with a circular logo; the outer ring contains the text EPPING at the top and LOUISVILLE KY. at the bottom. The interior of the circle features G. E. at the top, ESTB 1863, and a large central letter E. The metal siphon head assembly is stamped with the text LOUISVILLE KY. and includes the original spout and trigger mechanism. The internal glass dip tube is present and appears intact within the bottle. The glass tapers at the shoulder and the base, which features a faceted foot.
