Three McCormick C.M. Russell Whiskey Decanters The Stage Driver The Trapper and Flathead Squaw
Description
A set of three vintage painted bisque ceramic figural whiskey decanters, designed after the Western art of Charles M. Russell. Each figure is depicted standing on a rock-like mound covered in white snow, mounted to a rectangular base textured to resemble wood grain. The Stage Driver is depicted in a long brown fur coat, wide-brimmed hat, and black gloves, holding a long stage whip. The front of the base features an adhesive label reading DESIGN BY C.M. RUSSELL with a graphic skull mark, titled THE STAGE DRIVER above an illustration of a red stagecoach and team of horses. The reverse of the base has an adhesive label reading: The old-time stage driver, in soft wide hat, fur over-coat, gloves, high top boots, and wide belt around middle, and long stage whip.The Flathead Squaw and Papoose is depicted in a blue, red, and yellow patterned blanket, carrying a child in a red wrap on her back. The front of the base features an adhesive label reading DESIGN BY C.M. RUSSELL with a graphic skull mark, titled FLATHEAD SQUAW AND PAPOOSE above an illustration of a tipi. The reverse of the base has an adhesive label reading: Squaw in blanket, carrying a sleeping papoose in ordinary method of carrying children.The Trapper is depicted in a white capote with red and black stripes, wearing a fur cap and holding a long rifle. The front of the base features an adhesive label reading DESIGN BY C.M. RUSSELL with a graphic skull mark, titled THE TRAPPER above an illustration of a beaver in a trap. The reverse of the base has an adhesive label reading: Old-time northwest trapper in muskrat cap, blanket capote, buckskin shirt, leggings and moccasins, powder horn and old-time flintlock gun.
