Description
This antique Victorian-style parlor oil lamp features a decorated ceramic font and an ornate cast metal base. The bulbous ceramic font is decorated with embossed scrollwork and acanthus leaf motifs in high relief, highlighted with gilded accents. The central band of the font is hand-painted with floral sprays in shades of red, pink, and green, bordered by fine beaded molding. The upper shoulder of the font features a soft yellow-shaded ground. The font is mounted to a heavily ornamented four-footed cast metal base with a darkened bronze-toned finish and scrolled feet. A metal burner assembly with an octagonal wick adjustment knob sits atop the font; the knob is heavily oxidized, making any potential manufacturer marks illegible.
